“ Stopped by here while in West Hollywood! First of all, my server,Corey was great and he made it memorable. It was a cool laid back spot--- wish i would have come for taco Tuesday! But anyway... i got some street tacos and a margarita (definitely strong :) ) The salsa was great too so make sure you try it out!!! ”
“ The only regret I have about this place is that I didn't frequent it sooner since I live three blocks away. I've been living in this neighborhood for 19 years. “ I always drive by this place so I've always wanted to try it, finally got the chance to Stop by, the food is good / average Mexican food nothing spectacular, the service is just ok we had to find our waiter a few times to get a refill on drinks but I would go back and recommend this place. Side note parking is Valet only and they take only cash the good news is there is a gelsons right across the street that has an atm. So I do recommend bringing cash for parking. ”
“ I've known of and been to Marix for, I don't know, maybe 30 years??? Haven't visited in over a decade. We came here to meet up with a relative, and enjoy some good TexMex food. They don't take reservations, and the place gets crowded really fast. So, either get there early, or plan on a wait. If you have never been here before, it used to be a little house just off of Santa Monica Blvd. (on Flores), that has been, well, 'altered' to make it a two level (retractable) covered patio dining experience. It can get really loud in here, but that is pretty much the 'atmosphere' of Marix. Bring your friends, or meet some new friends. It's a great time here. The food is good, the service is friendly. . . .the margaritas legendary ”
“ That salmon bowl was soooooooo good. I tore it up! After a long day of work I met with my co-workers at Marix Tex Mex Cafe. Feeling like Ms. Pac Man I decided to ordered a salmon bowl so I could get the best of all worlds: veggies, rice and fish. After eating I was once again myself. No more the savage hungry monster that I was before I stepped into the establishment. Everyone else seemed to be happy with their entrees as well. I didn't hear any complaints. The ambiance is very intimate and quite dark. We tried to take photos and some were a hit and some were a miss due to lighting at night. ”
“ This place wins alone for location and ambiance. It's tucked away just a little north of Santa Monica Blvd. on Flores St. Definitely has a neighborhood feel. Inside has a lot of greenery that you can see from the seating so be prepared to feel like you're in the jungle. Love it. Food is like your typical Mexican restaurant and they do margaritas of course by the pitcher. I'd say come here for brunch and get your drink on. Afterwards, you'll have food in your stomach already to hit up the rest of the bars in the area...or stumble to the rest. Your choice. ”
“ For Marix, coming here on their AYCE Taco Tuesday nights, I'd give the place a 3. Taco are OK, a little better with the crunchy shell instead. But they're rather basic, with the choices of beef, chicken, carnitas or vegetarian (think fajitas without meat). The seating is cramped, and the place is loud (it's packed since AYCE for $10 is a draw). However, what made me give them an extra star was me cancelling my AYCE Veggie Taco order and opted for their vegan tacos, that included a mixture of mushrooms, quinoa, guacamole, cashew crema and soft corn tortillas (AYCE soft tacos were made with flour tortillas, which I despise). It was delicious, though sloppy to eat. Seriously, I should have asked for 2 more corn tortillas as I could have made 4 tacos with the amount of filling they used for 2. Glad they have this option. Our server was polite and on point even though it was a madhouse. Kudos to him and the rest of the staff. ”
“ The food's not bad. All you can eat Taco's on Taco-Tuesday. The inside of the restaurant is not very impressive and I think the decor could be better, but I'm really just there for the food. Fresh chips and salsa shortly after being seated. We also ordered a side of Guac, which was very tasty. I first ordered 3 soft tacos, which I wasn't a fan of.....believe it or not the soft tacos made the difference. I loved the same tacos I ordered when I went with hard shell tacos. Yes, HARD is better. :-) I recommend you trying the variety of them. My personal favorite are the beef tacos, not so much a fan of the chicken. The flavor and seasoning in the beef tacos are pretty incredible. The side of rice and beans are just okay. It really is Tex-Mex food. Not as much spices as I would like. I thought the waiter was attentive. He checked up on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. The prices aren't bad at all. Valet parking is not necessary. Seem like it's the only option, but there's actaully plenty of street parking one block East on Sweetzer. There's also parking across the way on King. ”
